ASSET explores the impacts of potential changes in the way we use the UK countryside. You can use ASSET to compare the ways in which future changes in the types of land we have (e.g. farmland, grassland, forest) and the way we use them (e.g. which crops we grow, what we use our forests for) might affect society and the environment. ASSET can also help you discover the kinds of issues, datasets and models that scientists are tackling to help shape the future of sustainable agriculture in the UK.
Detailed methods can be found in Redhead et al., 2020. UKCEH have continued to develop scenario generation and impact modelling methods since the original development of ASSET, but ASSET remains an excellent place to start exploring scenarios of land use change and discovering the insights that can be gathered from modelling.
